Portraiture
Portraiture can be broken down into three main areas – studio, lifestyle and environmental.
In studio portraiture we can control all aspects of the image from background, lighting and image capture. Most contemporary studio portraiture is shot in the “high-key” style against a white background. Your session will typically last for 60-90 minutes and may involve a change of outfits. Even though we’re in the studio there will be no starchy poses with fixed grins – we’ll get you all interacting and having fun and capture great moments throughout your session. If you do not want to have to worry about the weather and are looking for contemporary style images then this could be for you. Ideally presented in framed prints, canvases, acrylics or brushed aluminium.
Lifestyle portraiture is all about creating stunning images of people having fun in their own environment - this could be a walk in the woods, a morning on the beach or simply various parts of your own back garden. Images may involve some posing, but will mainly be spontaneous, natural “moments” in your interactions. Your session will typically last from 1˝ to 2˝ hours and if we shoot close to home a change of outfits will be possible. Ideally presented in albums, framed prints, canvases, acrylics or brushed aluminium prints.
The third category is environmental portraiture; here we create images of the subject within a setting that tells a story about that person – around the stable or on a horse ride for someone who works with horses or a train driver on a locomotive footplate. These images tend to be standalone and not necessarily part of a full series.
All of my portraiture aims to open up the true character and personality of the subjects to create images that you will cherish forever.
